Sagebrush Award - USA

  What is it?

An award "designed to honor a member(s) of the Young Adult Library Services Association who has developed an outstanding reading or literature program for young adults"

  PaperTigers says...

... it is great to have an award which recognises the important role and dedication of individuals in promoting YA reading through energetic and innovative reading and/ or literature programs.

  Tell me more…
  • The Sagebush Award is given to a member or members of the Young Adult Library Services for the development of an outstanding reading or literature program for young adults.
  • The Award is sponsored by the Sagebrush Corporation, a library technology provider.
  • The Award provides a grant of $1,000 to the recipient to enable them to attend the ALA Annual conference.
  • Past recipients of the award have been involved with a variety of projects, from setting up conferences to reading programs in detention centers to summer-reading clubs. Joanna Peled, the 2007 winner, motivated teens to read through her "That's My Take" program, in which they made movie trailers of their favorite books.
  • Applications for the award can be supported with copies of correspondence, promotional materials, photographs, media coverage, etc.
