  Back to Country: U.K. | Type: Multicultural Bookseller
  Letterbox Library — U.K.

  What is it?

A nonprofit cooperative founded in 1983 by two single mothers who wished to provide multicultural and nonsexist books for children. Letterbox Library sells books "that celebrate equality and diversity" through their mail catalog, and you'll soon be able to order books through their website.

  PaperTigers says...

… chances are you'll find here whatever isn't available at your local bookshop - books from small publishers, niche publications, and (if you're located in the UK) American and Canadian titles …

  Tell me more…
  • Every book that appears in the catalog is reviewed and approved by an advisory group of voluntary teachers, librarians, parents, and children;
  • Among the categories covered by the Letterbox Library are: dual-language books, books for reluctant readers (children with dyslexia, children for whom English is a second language, etc.), and books that deal with bullying, disability, divorce, and sexuality
