What Happened This Summer
Paul Yee (Tradewind, 2006)

Canadian young adult author Paul Yee brings to life the turbulent world of Chinese-Canadian teenagers in these short stories. They are narrated by different characters with different, but universally recognizable concerns, such as love, identity, sexuality, career choices, etc. The stories reveal how growing up is made even more complicated by the tensions between the traditional expectations of teens' home lives, how they perceive themselves, and how they wish to be perceived in their social lives and with and by their peers.
A careful and layered take on today's urban youth culture and the challenges it faces.
