Author and collage-artist Susan L. Roth has illustrated almost forty books to date, many of which she has also written. She is well-known for her richly textured and striking collages. Her latest work graces the pages of Listen to the Wind, written in collaboration with Greg Mortenson and due out in January 2009.
In this gallery, Susan shares with us a sample of collages that "particularly symbolize peace" to her.

Quotations, taken from her interview with PaperTigers:
"My rule is 'use anything and everything.' I have trouble throwing out beautiful scraps, so my growing collections, organized by color, are always available to me. I use only the cloths or papers that feel right to me. I do not care if their geographical sources are illogical choices. In all my books, I try my absolute best to keep the text as accurate and as precise as possible, but I acknowledge no boundaries and allow no border patrol for my collage materials."
...
"To me, peace is equal to appreciation and love. I believe that I include at least one, if not both, of these two themes in all my books..."
